Our Team

Join our team

If you feel like your values align with ours, we’d love to hear from you!

What are we looking for?……

We are always on the lookout for committed, passionate and self-motivated therapists and support coordinators to join our team.

We occasionally have vacancies for the right people to join our part-time group program and support teams as well.

We also offer volunteer roles within our community centre and food pantry, as well as with our programs and some limited positions for supported employment and skill-building pathways with our crystal shop, programs and community centre.

Qualities we are looking for:

  • People with skills and understanding in supporting people from diverse backgrounds and with intersectional disadvantage.

  • Self-reflective - people willing to acknowledge and work with their own, and other team members, (as well as participants) unique challenges and strengths, recognising and accepting differences and be willing to self-reflect and find solutions which work for themselves and others. Are you willing to confront your own prejudices and own and reflect on your own judgements and see things from other points of view?

  • Self-motivated and willing to work as part of a collaborative team environment.

  • Responsible and proactive - following up and expressing own needs proactively, as well as proactively supporting participants at the pace they need, and identifying support needs clearly, working with participants’ needs rather than a ‘one size fits all’ approach.

  • Passionate - caring deeply about their role and work, and able to work within a dynamic, lived experience team, where communication differences abound.

  • Optimistic attitude towards colleagues and clients - seeing the possibilities and the tiny steps of positive steps forward from a client and child-led perspective, as well as within a lived experience team. Are you willing to hold space for the possibility that the way someone else has communicated or made a decision may come from a different perspective than you first thought? Are you willing to hold open the door to understanding how someone else may have seen things from a completely different set of history, trauma response, values and understandings than you expect or are used to? Can you have patience for the things others find challenging that you would expect to be done differently?

  • Person-centred. Everyone says they are person-centred, but what does this really mean to you? Are you able to see things from the values perspective of someone whose values differ from yours?

  • Hold professional boundaries - in complex spaces, this does not mean being uncaring, knowing your own role, needs, working for the best interests of participants in a professional space and empowering people to build their independence rather than dependence. Identifying and proactively managing conflicts of interest.

  • Understanding of the dignity of risk versus the duty of care.

  • Persistent and determined - when working at the intersection of individuals and systems, there are constant challenges, inequities, changes, adjustments, departments, services and crises to navigate. This requires persistence, determination and the other attributes listed above to support and work alongside people who experience disadvantage.

  • Self-care - along with professional boundaries, having or developing your own support systems and abilities to recognise and advocate for your own needs and boundaries.

What we offer

  • A collaborative, dynamic, lived-experience and person-centred team environment, with room to grow in a supportive, encouraging environment. A community and connections to other community services, the ability to provide support within home and community contexts.

  • Employee Assistance Program - 3 sessions per year of mental health support from your provider of choice. Options to transition into a role. Part-time and flexible options. Fair remuneration for your experience, role, and level of responsibility.

We rarely can offer ‘ready to go’ set hours, as while we have people constantly seeking our services, staff MUST be the right fit for each participant. Every staff member offers unique strengths and has their own unique challenges. If you have a specific area of expertise, word of mouth is our biggest marketing tool. We are best placed to offer roles to people willing to transition into client numbers and let their work and reputation speak for itself to gain traction.

In loving memory

Deb,

We thank you for all you have given to us here at Diverse.

We will forever hold you dearly in our hearts
